Opteven is a major player in the UK – but just how big are we? Here we explore Opteven by numbers, for an understanding of the size and scope of our operations.

At Opteven, we have more than 40 years’ experience in the automotive and insurance sectors, across 11 European markets. Closer to home, we’ve spent the last 20 years offering mechanical breakdown, warranty and asset protection products here in the UK, for both new and used vehicles.

In 2023, more than more than 449,000 warranty policies were managed by Opteven UK. That’s just a small proportion of the more than 1.8 million used vehicles that are currently protected by an Opteven warranty throughout Europe.

To service our used car policy holders efficiently and maintain our “Excellent” Trustpilot rating, it is crucial that we have the infrastructure in place to support these warranties. As such, we have a dedicated team of more than 20 claims and customer services staff based at our offices in Thame, Oxfordshire, each with many years’ automotive and technician experience, placing them in good stead to answer any query and assess any used car warranty claim.

Last year, this team answered 64,311 calls from customers and repairers – 90% of which were answered in less than 15 seconds. In total, we managed more than 68,000 used car warranty policies last year and processed over 20,000 warranty claims, paying out in excess of £5 million to customers in need.

That’s not to mention the products we managed for our 11+ corporate partners, including a further 314,000 warranty policies on new and used vehicles, for which we have additional dedicated claims and customer services teams based in Birchwood, Cheshire. For these partners, we answered a further 34,500 calls and processed 84,000 additional claims.

Finally, thanks to our partnership with many UK roadside assistance providers, we delivered roadside support to more than 20,000 British customers while they were travelling in Europe.
